Approaches for Developing Your Personal Philosophy

One you’ve decided to pursue your life philosophy, it is easy to want to jump right in and get going. Like with any significant undertaking, the approach that you take can make all the difference.

To this point you have learned much about personal life philosophies and developing them. This assumes you have used the Life Philosophy Learning Center and covered the Essential Steps in Developing a Personal Philosophy. If not, please consider using them as resources.

Another way to be prepared to develop your life philosophy is to read On Terms of Your Own: The Pursuit of Being and Fulfillment in a Challenging World. This book is in many ways a companion guide to the content on this website. It presents and develops new concepts that are useful for anyone developing their life philosophy. It also presents a flexible approach based upon the high-level approach presented in the Support Center.

When you feel that you are ready to get started, review the approaches presented below and choose the one that best works for you.

Approach Options

Below are three options for developing your personal philosophy and making it a part of your life. Each option is based upon the LifePhilosophy.net approach which includes all of the common parts of developing a personal philosophy. The primary difference between the three is the level of support that you receive along the way.

To get going, simply review the options below and select the one that is right for you. Once you do, simply follow the instructions in each option for What you need to do before you start and for Getting Started.

If you are still unsure after you do, please feel free to reach out to us with any questions you have and for advice on what option will work best for you.

Option 1: Self-Guided

In the self-guided approach, you develop your personal life philosophy on your own without direct support. You can use the resources available on this website and in On Terms of Your Own: The Pursuit of Being and Fulfillment in a Challenging World. On Terms of Your Own is designed to include everything you need to complete each of the parts of developing your personal philosophy and applying it to your life. It also includes support for many of the common challenges that are encountered in developing a personal philosophy.
